Ofev is a medication used to treat pulmonary fibrosis. Ofev is only available as a brand name medication and comes as an oral capsule.

Ofev is used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. It is typically taken twice a day. Ofev works in the lungs and stops certain cells from producing collagen and other fibers that lead to pulmonary fibrosis.
Common side effects of Ofev include loss of appetite, diarrhea, headache, upset stomach and weight loss.

You should take Ofev with food and swallow the capsule whole with water or another drink. Even if you feel better, it is important to continue taking Ofev as your doctor instructed.
Ofev can cause you to bleed more easily. Be careful and try to avoid injury as much as possible. Let your doctor know if you experience signs of excessive bleeding while taking Ofev, including throwing up blood, blood in the urine, black or tarry stools, bleeding from the gums or nose, unusual bruising or any other abnormal bleeding.
Ofev can sometimes cause high blood pressure. Signs of high blood pressure include headache, dizziness, passing out or changes in eyesight.
Ofev can potentially cause liver problems. Talk to your doctor if you experience symptoms such as stomach pain or yellowing of the eyes and/or skin, which can be signs of liver problems.
