Florinef is a medication used to treat Addison’s disease and salt-losing disease. It is available as a brand name drug or as a generic and comes as an oral tablet.
Florinef is a medication that contains the active ingredient Fludrocortisone. It is a medication used to treat adrenocortical insufficiency in people with Addison’s disease or salt-losing conditions such as adrenogenital syndrome.
This medication is a very potent mineralocorticoid that encourages your body to reabsorb salt.
Florinef is usually taken once daily. Florinef is typically well tolerated but can cause some trouble sleeping and increased sweating.

If you take Florinef once a day, take your dose in the morning to avoid problems with sleeping. If you take Florinef for an extended period of time, talk to your doctor before stopping the medication, as withdrawal symptoms can happen.
You may have a higher chance of getting an infection while taking Florinef. Wash your hands regularly and avoid anyone who is sick. Let your doctor know if you experience any signs of infection like fever, chills, sore throat or cough.
Florinef can cause problems with your electrolyte levels. Signs of electrolyte problems include mood changes, confusion, muscle pain or weakness, abnormal heartbeat, seizures, loss of appetite, upset stomach and vomiting.
Long-term use of Florinef can lead to cataracts, glaucoma and/or osteoporosis.
