Ampicillin should be taken at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal. Take each dose with a full glass of water. Try to not miss doses, and complete the entire regimen of ampicillin to fully heal your infection.
While diarrhea is common while taking antibiotics, a severe form of diarrhea can occur. Let your doctor know if you have very bad stomach pain or cramps, loose stools or bloody stools.
