It’s important to go to the doctor when you’re sick. But you should also get regular checkups when you’re healthy. This is where your Medicare Annual Wellness Visit comes in.
If you have Medicare, you get one Annual Wellness Visit per year. During your Annual Wellness Visit, your primary care provider (PCP) will talk with you about your overall health and wellness. They will use your answers to build a personalized prevention plan based on your current health and risk factors.

Does Aetna Medicare cover the Annual Wellness Visit?
Yes. All Medicare plans cover one visit per year. And that includes Aetna Medicare plans. If you’ve had Medicare Part B longer than 12 months, you can go ahead and schedule this visit with your PCP. As long as your doctor accepts Medicare, you will pay nothing for your visit.
If you are new to Medicare or recently moved, you may be able to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.
What is covered in an Annual Wellness Visit?
This yearly check-in with your PCP can help you understand your health risks and create a personalized prevention plan. Here’s what you’ll review during your visit:
● Your medical history: This includes past medical events that you’ve had or medical events of your family members.
● Your current prescriptions: You and your doctor will review your medications to make sure you’re using them safely.
● Your health measurements: Your doctor will measure your blood pressure, heart rate and weight.
● Your lifestyle: Your doctor may ask about your habits and routines. For example, they may want to know if you’re a smoker and how often you exercise.
